Overview
Sound oN is a music streaming application that can play, search, identify and share music in one place. The idea of Sound oN is inspired by the hassle of searching a song nowadays where user needs to switch between multiple applications just to identify a song.

Goal: to learn about users’ music streaming habits and experiences
Participants: 28 people
Common problems:
The experience of discovering music is sometimes inconvenient.
Some playlist that is generated for them is not to their preferences.
Key findings:
Gen Z is the biggest listener of music streaming platforms.
Users mostly use their phone & desktop to stream music every day.
It is easier for respondents to remember a song base on the melody.
Many of the users love to share music.
Ideation
01. Music identifier feature
Music identifier that could identify a song by listening to the original song or a hum. User can easily identify the song and add it to their own playlist.
02. Messaging feature
The user might share music without switching apps with the help of an inbuilt messaging feature.
03. Activity page
On this page, user can interact with others. Users can post a song or a playlist along with their opinions or feelings. People that are friends with the user can see, give reactions, and leave comments on the post. Users also can show their listening activity to their friend list.
User Testing
This user testing is done remotely to five people with age range between 18 to 24 years old.
A full analysis of survey and interview responses are available upon request.

Tasks
01. Search a song by the melody
Hypothesis
Users able to navigate to the ‘Identifier’ menu without getting lost.
Users use the identifier button to search the song.
Users can successfully identify a song.
Expected journey
Navigate to the ‘Search’ page
Select the ‘Identifier’ menu
Tap on the identifier button

02. Share a music to a friend without using other application
Hypothesis
Users able to navigate to the ‘Messages’ menu without getting lost.
Users able to go inside a chat room.
Users able to share a music inside the chat room.
Expected journey
Navigate to the ‘Activity’ page
Select the ‘Messages’ menu
Click on the friend’s name
Click on the plus icon
Select a song to share
User testing findings
Music identifier is loved and easy to navigate by the users.
Although the messaging feature is useful, it feels hidden and is not felt to be particularly necessary in a music streaming application.
Users prefer the messaging to has its’ own page.
The ‘Posts’ section got the users interested.
Overall, the design is straightforward, but the features could be improved.
